Eng Vs. Pak T20 2021 Schedule, Venues, and List of Players (All That You Need to Know!)

Pakistan vs England 2021 T20

As always, the English summer is set to bring a lot of excitement and thrill for cricket lovers and punters. The number one Twenty20 International (T20) side in the world, England, will take on the number 4 side, Pakistan, in a three-match T20 series in July this year. These matches are a part of the Pakistan tour of England, which will also see both the teams playing three One-Day Internationals (ODIs).

Coming as it does in the midst of the COVID-19 induced pandemic, the Pakistan vs England series will also cause some anxiety to players, organizers, spectators, and punters. But, it seems that all arrangements have been made for the series, as England has played a host of international matches recently, including the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) between India and New Zealand.

The PCB threw quite a few surprises when it announced the squad. For example, it has named Azam Khan (son of former player Moin Khan) and who’s so far uncapped in the T20 squad. Since Azam has played only one first-class match, his selection took a lot of people by surprise. Those who favour him say that he can hit sixes, which will come in handy in the game’s shortest format.

As we said, COVID-19 will continue to impact the world of cricket. Days after naming Haider Ali in the squad, the PCB dropped him from the tour of England because Haider had broken the social distancing protocols of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Haider admitted that he had met people outside of his designated bio-bubble.

Right-handed batsman, Sohaib Maqsood, will replace Ali. However, Sohaib last played a T-20 for Pakistan more than five years ago.

While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced their squad for the T-20 series, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is yet to make the announcement. Obviously, bettors are excited to know who will make the final line-up and who won’t.

Although England’s T-20 side is not announced yet, they have many talented players like Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Eoin Morgan, and Sam Curran, who can win a match from any situation. On the other hand, while being erratic, the Pakistani team also has players who can beat anyone on their day.

The T20 series between these teams is definitely going to be an interesting one. Continue reading this space because our betting experts at Fun88 will bring you a lot of insights as the series begins.

Facts you should know about Pakistan’s and England’s recent performances

Pakistan vs England T20 2021 Series

Facts About Pakistan & England’s Performance | Image source:

  • England lost a T20 series to India by 2-3 earlier this year. It was a part of England’s dismal tour of India, where they lost all the three series, Tests, ODIs, and T20, to the host nation. That said, England should definitely be a bigger threat to Pakistan in home conditions.
  • England have already won the ongoing T20 series against Sri Lanka, as they are 2-0 ahead.
  • England had also beaten Australia by 2-1 in a T20 series, which was played in England. This again underscores the point that England are a formidable team in home conditions, especially in the T20 format.
  • In a recent T20 series, Pakistan beat the minnows, Zimbabwe, by 2-1. Prior to that, Pakistan had lost a T20 series to New Zealand by 2-1 in 2020.
  • While touring overseas, Pakistan has beaten South Africa by 3-1 in a T20 series this year, which should give them some confidence. However, Pakistan’s biggest problem in all forms of cricket is their unpredictability. If they can get a hold of that, the upcoming series against England will be an exciting contest.

How has Christian Eriksen’s collapse increased the awareness about on-field medical checkups_quick medical aid

UEFA Euro Cup 2020: Christian Eriksen’s Collapse During The Match

It was June 12th, when football fans across the world were excitedly watching the match between Denmark and Finland, as part of the Euro Cup 2020. The match was into its 43rd minute when Denmark team midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch. Team members promptly rose to the occasion, rushing to roll him onto his side so that his airways were open. While the medical team attended to his condition, a number of his teammates in UEFA Euro 2020, in a conscientious move, formed a human wall around the scene. Eventually, it was assessed as a case of cardiac arrest.

What is SCA?

In the case of SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest), a person’s heart fails to pump blood effectively throughout the body. It depends on electrical impulses from the body’s pacemaker cells to develop a regular heartbeat. Blood is first pumped to the lungs where it is oxygenated and then the oxygen-rich blood is pumped to the rest of the body. One can suffer from a cardiac arrest due to several reasons, but it mostly occurs due to malfunctioning of the heart’s electrical system, which leads to irregular and ineffective heartbeats.

How Did the Medical Team Respond At Euro Cup Football?

Medical Team Attending To Eriksen

It goes without saying that had it not been for the well-trained and well-equipped medical team that sprung in action that day, we probably would have lost the young and bright midfielder. The response team started chest compressions within minutes of his collapse. They also applied a defibrillator, a device that delivers an electric shock to the chest aiming to restore a normal heartbeat. According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, timely application of a defibrillator can boost a patient’s survival chance by 75%.

The heroes who saved the day, Morten and Anders Boesen, work for FC Copenhagen, who own and play at Parken, along with a public and a private hospital. Morten is the team doctor, while Anders is the stadium doctor. Morten eventually stated in his statement to the media that they had optimal working conditions, thanks to the team that surrounded them, including physio Morten Skjoldager, the pitch-side doctor, the stretcher team, the paramedics the doping control officer, and the players of Euro football 2020 who made a circle around Eriksen.

The Experts’ Opinion on Ericksen’s Health Crises

Medical Authorities Of UEFA

According to Cathy Campbell, Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine and President-Elect of the Canadian Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine, she said ‘’it is a significant undertaking to be prepared to deal with different scenarios during a match. It is imperative for medical teams to be ready for anything at a moment’s notice’’.

She further added that knowing how to work a defibrillator is not enough, the whole team should be ready for action even after spending hours sitting watching matches. Keeping the medical team up for long days, weeks, and so forth is part of the job.

Campbell went on to assert that training should start weeks before the commencement of the tournament, and the medical team must get used to working with each other and learning all the big and small details of the pitch they are on. The UEFA medical guideline clearly states that medical teams on the pitch must have specialised medical equipment, including cardiac life saving drugs, within easy access. Be it a minor knee injury or a collapse on the field, the team should be in a position to deal with it. Campbell also devotes time to walking through the stands and behind-the-scenes areas, planning the bail-out options for every scenario- be it an evacuation if necessary or the identification of safe places for setting up medical equipment.

Speaking about Eriksen’s collapse amid the Euro 2020 match, Mary M. Newman, MS, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation President, has also specified that currently, only one of 10 victims survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. His life was saved only due to the immediate action by the team members and bystanders. There is a national non-profit organization called the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation that works towards building awareness about sudden cardiac arrest and how bystanders can have a life with some simple actions. This foundation has an active network of survivors and survivor families who are committed to educating people about these life-saving techniques. AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator) are designed in a way that they can be used even without training. Any layperson can also take help from the instructions that these devices themselves provide.

A Well-Prepared Medical Team is The Need of the Hour

Medical Team's Swift Action To Revive Eriksen

A sports medical team should not be confined to learning only how to respond, but also when to respond. There are specific league rules indicating when medical teams can attend to such emergencies. For example, it can be controversial to interrupt the game without being signalled on by the referee. However, some leagues such as FIFA, have revised these regulations so that medical teams can rush to a player’s rescue if he has collapsed without coming into contact with a player or the ball. The incident reminded football fans of other football players who collapsed on the field.

In an unfortunate incident, Marc-Vivien Foe died during the 2003 Federations Cup in France. In all likelihood, this happened due to a lack of awareness of the need for speedy care. This was reinforced by Sanjay Sharma, Professor of Cardiology at St. George’s, University of London, who, in his statement to BBC Sport in 2013, expressed shock at the treatment received on the field. In another interview, he also mentioned that resuscitation should start within a minute and a half of someone going down. This, coupled with the use of the defibrillator within 3 minutes, can give the player a 70% chance of staying alive. However, Foe had to wait for six minutes with his eyes rolled back before attempts were made to restart his heart.

A tragic day in the history of FIFA, Foe’s death unfurled a series of changes that were introduced to minimise the risk of cardiac arrest on the field. Jiri Dvorak, FIFA’s Chief Medical Officer, confirmed to BBC Sport that this episode sparked a definite shift in on-field medical awareness, which made things such as examinations of players before a competition, training of medical teams in CPR and using defibrillators, and having emergency plans, were made an integral part of the game.

The public should learn how to recognise SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) and they can save a life with CPR and AEDs. By following the simple phrase of ‘Call-Push-Shock’, the bystander can remember to call 911, give CPR, and use an AED. Newman went on to say that the story of Mr. Eriksen is not as unusual as one might presume, and that many survivors have had a healthy track record with no known heart impairments. She stressed the importance of education and accessibility to AEDs wherever possible, including sports venues for kids and adults. As she puts it, SCA can strike anyone, anywhere, without warning.

Let’s hope due emphasis is given to on-field medical aid in sports, and no such incidents are repeated in the times to come.

Points of Analysis:

This is a short series featuring just three T20 Cricket internationals and three ODIs. This can be seen as a second leg of the tour in which Sri Lanka had played a couple of test matches against England last season. The announcement of this ODI got cricket enthusiasts worldwide superbly thrilled, given that they have really been missing some nail-biting action on the field, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

Though England decided to keep its best players fit and fresh for the T20s while they had dropped these players for the Test, but they would need a strong performance to justify this decision. This is also because when England chose to rest its players from its Test side, a lot of criticism was meted out to them.

It is also important to note that the matches in this series will serve as a building block for both teams, whose ultimate target is the T20 World Cup scheduled in the latter half of the year.

Team Previews

England is going all out in almost every way that one can think of. The best part is, their entire squad is available for this season. Besides, given that all players of this team have been playing T20 cricket during the T20 World Cup blast proves that they’re game-ready. One can hardly doubt that England is one of the best white-ball sides of the world. They manifest brilliant depth in every aspect of the game, and England may have a hard time trying to give all its players a chance to show their skills in this series.

The two opening slots will be a close call amongst Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, and Liam Livingstone. Since Livingstone can play in the middle order too, England is unlikely to move away from Roy and Bairstow at the top. The opening match will witness Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, and Sam Curran completing the line-up. This indeed looks like a formidable line-up with potential match-winners at every level. Dawid Malan has, of late, been suffering from the aftermath of a few poor scores in the T20 Blast but fans are still hopeful of him getting an extended run.

Viewers will also be excitedly waiting to see who manages to make the cut as the bowling all-rounder: David Willey or Chris Woakes. This is going to be a close shave since both are pretty good at their game. When it comes to heading the bowling unit, we are left with Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, and Mark Wood. The team is unlikely to show any weakness given that all the players are quite skilled and experienced.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka lost its recent series against Bangladesh, which obviously, put it in a tight spot as far as this ODI cricket is concerned. The new captain Kusal Perera enjoys batting on the flat pitches in England and might end up making a mark. He had missed the T20 Cricket series against West Indies and will be more than eager to showcase his best form.

Avishka Fernando can be an excellent value pick for bettors, provided he plays in the team. He had a lot of runs to his credit in the 2019 World Cup. He also seems to be the kind of player who can make the most of the conditions in England. He has mastered the technique against the short ball, which can work in his favour. However, even though the Sri Lankan batting order seems to be strong on paper, it hasn’t managed to live up to expectations in recent times, especially when it comes to playing under pressure.

That being said, Sri Lanka’s biggest problem isn’t going to be betting but bowling.

Thanks to the impressive performances of Isuru Udana, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Dushmanth Chameera in their recent outings, they are all likely to make their way into the line-up. Playing Udana and Hasaranga also boosts the batting depth in the team. The flexibility can encourage Sri Lanka to play Nuwan Pradeep and an extra bowler.

Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is likely to want to choose to field first. Out of the six T20 Cricket World Cup internationals that have been played here, four have been won by the team that has fielded first.

Pitch and Conditions

According to an expert’s analysis, the pitch condition should be dry and favourable. That itself is a strong point. Bettors might be aware of the fact that Cardiff is one of the few places in England where T20 scores typically remain middling. Approximately 160-170 should be a pretty good score to defend. If the pitch has a decent degree of bounce and pace, it can help bowlers with the new ball.

Daren Sammy Net Worth, Earnings And Lifestyle Of The Ex-Windies Captain

Daren Sammy, the recently appointed brand ambassador of Fun88, is one of the most successful cricket players from the West Indies. Over the years, he has represented and captained the West Indies national cricket team and has also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Pakistan Super League (PSL), and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Having made his international debut way back in 2004, Daren Sammy is one of the most experienced and richest cricketers from the West Indies. Not to forget, he’s also the most successful West Indies captain of recent times.

Under Sammy’s captaincy, the West Indies team won the Twenty20 International (T20) World Cup twice in 2012 and 2016. He’s the only captain in world cricket to have led his side to two T20 World Cup victories.

As an all-rounder, his cricketing talent was apparent to everyone. He is a big-hitting batsman who can bowl medium-pace as well. That’s the reason he has played in a number of leagues worldwide, which has, of course, given a boost to his net worth and earnings.

Daren Sammy’s Net Worth and Earnings

Sammy’s estimated net worth is approximately $5 million (Rs 37.3 crores). It includes his earnings for representing the West Indies national team and his salary for playing in many cricketing leagues over the years.

Given that he last represented the West Indies national team back in 2017, his earnings from playing league cricket in IPL, PSL, and CSL have contributed significantly to his overall net worth.

Sammy started playing in IPL when he joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad team. He even captained the franchise in 2014. He was at the peak of his career then, and as a result, there was a lot of competition in IPL 2015 auctions to buy him.

Finally, Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Sammy for Rs 2.8 crores. Then, in 2017, he was bought by Kings XI Punjab for $46,000 (Rs 34.3 lakhs). Sammy has had a successful run playing in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as well. In the 2013 edition of CPL, he was announced as the franchise player of the tournament.

He was a permanent fixture of the CPL side, St Lucia Zouks, which he even led for a while. But recently, Sammy stepped down as a player and captain of St Lucia Zouks and has chosen to play the role of a T20 cricket consultant and brand ambassador for the team.

Sammy earned a lot of fame playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as well. He captained their franchise, Peshawar Zalmi, from 2017 until 2020. Now, he’s playing the role of Peshawar Zalmi’s head coach.

It was reported that Peshawar Zalmi had paid Sammy Rs 40 lakhs ($53,690) for a one-year contract in 2020. Sammy had played a crucial role in Peshawar Zalmi winning the PSL in 2017.

For Sammy’s role in bringing international cricket back to Pakistan, the Pakistani Government had even conferred upon him the country’s highest civilian award – the Nishaan-e-Pakistan – and the honorary citizenship in 2020.
